Marriage Blessing

Yesterday we attended the wedding of a "young" couple. They are both 36 and it is the first marriage for each of them.  We have known the bride most of her life.  She is the kind of gal that you always hoped would find a great guy!  They have never had a serious relationship with anyone before.  It was a beautiful wedding and ceremony.  The pastor did a wonderful job with the wedding message.  He used the story of Rebecca and Issac.

This prayer was read by the pastor following his prayer:
Marriage Blessing
These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow and forever.
These are the hands that will work alongside ours as together you build your future.  These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through  the years, and with the slightest touch will comfort you like no other.
These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children.  These are the hands that will help you hold you family as one.  And lastly, these are the hands that will even when wrinkled and aged, still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.
Father,  help these hands to continue to build a relationship founded in your grace, rich in caring, and devoted to reaching for your perfection . May Dawn and Janson see their hands as healer, protector shelter and guild.  We ask this in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.   Amen.
